Larger Screens

A 4-inch or larger screen is easier on the eyes for long sessions and makes detailed PlayStation 1 and arcade games far more readable than a 3.5-inch panel. The trade-off is pocketability — bigger screens mean bigger shells, so these are better suited to a bag than a jacket pocket. Look for an IPS panel with a 4:3 aspect ratio, which matches most retro content without stretching, and note that some larger devices use square 720×720 panels that suit Game Boy and Neo Geo Pocket titles particularly well. Battery capacity matters more here too, since a bigger, brighter screen draws more power.
