We don’t sell products or process payments. When you buy through a link on this site, you do so on Amazon, and Amazon’s privacy notice applies to that purchase.
Information we collect
- Messages you send. If you use the contact form or email us, we receive your name, email address, any phone number you choose to give, and your message.
- Email sign-ups. If you subscribe, we store your email address to send occasional guide updates.
- Technical data. Like most websites, our hosting and security providers process IP addresses, browser type, pages requested and timestamps in server logs to deliver the site and protect it from abuse.
- Cookies. See below.
Cookies and third parties
- Google AdSense. We show ads served by Google. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visits to this site and other sites on the internet. You can opt out of personalized advertising in Google Ads Settings, or opt out of some third-party vendors’ use of cookies at aboutads.info.
- Google Analytics. We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how the site is used — for example which pages are read and which buttons are clicked. It uses cookies and records information such as pages viewed, device type and approximate location; Google Analytics does not store IP addresses. In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, analytics and advertising cookies are off by default. You can opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out add-on.
- Amazon Associates. When you click a link to Amazon, Amazon may set cookies on its own site to record that the visit came from us, so we can earn a commission on qualifying purchases. We don’t receive your name, address or payment details from Amazon.
- Google reCAPTCHA. The contact form uses reCAPTCHA to block spam. Its use is subject to Google’s Privacy Policy and Terms.
- Cloudflare. Our content delivery and security provider may set cookies needed to protect the site.
- Site functionality. WordPress and its plugins may set short-lived functional cookies.
How we use information
To reply to messages, send updates you asked for, keep the site secure and working, and measure which guides and links are useful. We don’t sell your personal information and don’t share it except with the service providers above, or where the law requires it.
Retention
We keep messages and sign-ups for as long as needed to respond or until you ask us to delete them. Server logs are kept for a limited period for security purposes.
Your rights
Depending on where you live — including the EEA, the UK and California — you may have the right to access, correct or delete your personal information, or to object to certain processing. Email [email protected] and we’ll respond within the time the law requires.
Children
This site isn’t directed to children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their personal information.
